I don’t know about you, but I hate being that person that is always checking the time on her phone. A watch is so much more classy. I own a few random cheap watches partially because they make an outfit look more polished and partially because I never feel like I can find a watch that is durable and cute. This is such a cool watch!
JORD watches are made out of wood which makes the look so unique #LogCabinVibes. The company offers a ton of variation of wood types, styles and colors for men (check those out here) and women (check those out here).
They are very reasonably priced (between $139-$395). These would make a great Valentine’s Day gift for your significant other or for yourself 😉 I wore the watch for the first time today and got a ton of compliments on it because it’s so unique. Click here to see the combo I chose.
JORD sent me a complimentary watch to review for this post. It arrived in a beautiful cedar box. You guys know me, I love to repurpose things. This box looks nice on it’s own! You can have yours engraved with your favorite quote, your logo, a monogram or a personal note to the recipient. Personalized gifts are always the best aren’t they?! You can also custom order your size for ten bucks. They have a simple printable that you can use. No fail.
The nice people at JORD are allowing me to give $100 gift code to one lucky FSL reader! One person will win the big prize, but just for entering, you will automatically get a $25 gift code at the end of the contest! Um, win-win.
If you follow me on Instagram (@FindingSilverLinings) and/or SnapChat (@FSLsnap) then you have seen a Cliff’s Notes version of our amazing stay-cation in New York City this past weekend. The Archer Hotel is a cool boutique lodging in the heart of Mid-town. The Archer Hotel was perfect for a weekend getaway for Mr. FSL & I to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of our very first date.
Where & How Much?
The rooms are NYC affordable (starting at $200 in low season) and the location is EVERYTHING!!! It is in the Garment District (hello cute shops everywhere!) a few blocks from Bryant Park, Grand Central and Times Square. Tons of restaurants, bars, coffee shops, yoga studios, salons, you name it, you can walk to it. It’s a perfect place for a girl’s trip or a romantic getaway. Click here for more about the neighborhood.
We got into the city about 45 minutes before check-in and were prepared to wait until our room was available. When I went to ask the front desk if we could leave our luggage while we wait for our room, the attendant told me it was ready for us right then. Smoothest check-in ever. The lobby is urban-luxe and a little quirky. And gorgeous. Exposed brick, modern chandeliers & a few chesterfields? Um, yes please.
We were high on the fact that we were going to have a full night of uninterrupted sleep, so Archer could have thrown us in a closet with a cot and I would have been okay with it. I was not ready for the comfort level of this king sized bed. You guys know I’m a sucker for tufting and nail head trim, so this headboard was a yes (and that oversized artwork?!). I felt so spoiled when I found out that the hotel used Frette linens!
The little extras are what sets this hotel’s hospitality apart from other hotels I’ve stayed at. Frette robes for the duration of our stay were a luxurious touch. Minimalist toiletries and even makeup remover wipes (which were much appreciated) were provided in the bathroom. Peep the sweet beveled subway tiles.
I was feeling pampered putting on my makeup in my spa robe (without a toddler weaving through my legs). What is it about an all white bathroom that instantly makes me starry eyed?
We had these adorable his & hers slippers in the room and were told to take them home with us (also free)! I mean, how cute are these?!
(Free) waters and handmade caramels, turn-down service with a box of chocolate peppermint covered pretzels (from a local shop), champagne, and a $20 Joker card (hotel credit at any of the bars/restaurants or valet). Every room has a Nespresso station fully stocked with creamer, pods and white cups -another nice touch.
Unique Hotel Feature
Um, also, I did not hate our nightlight. We had an Empire view room, but this photo was snapped at the rooftop bar Spyglass. I felt like I could have reached out and touched the Empire State Building. How iconic is this view?!
If you’re looking for a boutique hotel in Manhattan that’s affordable, super-hospitable and in a prime location, I highly recommend The Archer Hotel.

I don’t know about you, but if my online shopping cart is like $15 short of free shipping, I’m buying $15 of more crap. Companies know this.
Two years ago, I signed up for Amazon Mom which included a free trial of Prime. Me being me, I completely forgot about cancelling the trial and saw a mysterious $100 charged to my credit card. This entered me into the new world of Amazon Prime and 2-day shipping. I used to say that it was insane to pay $100 for 2-day shipping -especially since it’s not even free shipping. Welp, that was the old me. The new me clicks the “Place Your Order” button and runs to the window to see if the Fed-Ex guy is anywhere in sight.
I am a Prime convert. When it lapsed last March, I wanted to cry. Mr. FSL deemed it an unnecessary purchase, so we were Prime free for almost a year (someone has to be the saver, and it ain’t me). Santa bought Max a Kindle Fire for Christmas and it came with a glorious free trial for Prime. A few days ago, I got the text. “Looks like we have Prime for the next year. I forgot to cancel it”.
Another honorable mention is Sephora “Flash 2-Day Shipping”. For $10 a year, you can have free (minus the ten bucks) 2 day shipping on unlimited purchases. W.I.N.
Are you a Prime lover? Have you tried Sephora Flash? #worthit #ImAnEnabler
